Bank financing of industrial livestock production is exacerbating the climate crisis and undermining financial institutions' commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. On June 27th, BankTrack, Feedback Global, Friends of the Earth U.S., and Profundo will analyse financial flows from global banks into the largest meat, dairy, and feed corporations are driving startling environmental ramifications, including outsized climate and biodiversity impacts in need of urgent attention.
Our team of experts will delve into the intricate web of global financial flows from top global and U.S. banks to the largest meat, dairy, and feed corporations worldwide. The webinar will present the findings of the two recent reports- Friends of the Earth’s report, “Bull in the Climate Shop” and Feedback Global’s report, “Still Butchering the Planet”, both using research conducted by Profundo. The reports have uncovered alarming information: since the Paris Climate Agreement, banks have funneled over half a trillion dollars in credits and investments into the industrial livestock sector. Major U.S. banks alone have contributed $134 billion in loans and underwriting to industrial livestock. This financing fuels the expansion of industrial livestock production, and drives the climate crisis. This webinar will cover the key findings of both reports and the urgent need to address industrial livestock finance in light of the escalating climate and biodiversity crises. Join us for a comprehensive analysis and an opportunity to engage with experts on the path forward.
The findings, which we will discuss further in today's webinar, reveal startling insights into the environmental ramifications of this financing. We will explore how even small shifts in financial practices could lead to significant climate benefits.
