PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk. was established in 1956. The name Bank Danamon was derived from ‘dana moneter', meaning monetary fund. It was first used in 1976 in place of its original name, Bank Kopra. Danamon is a universal bank and it has one of the widest geographic distribution networks of all Indonesian banks. Danamon is the majority owner of Adira Dinamika Multi Finance, Indonesia's leading auto finance company; Adira Kredit, a durable goods financing company; and Adira Insurance, a general insurance company. In 2006, Danamon and Adira established Yayasan Danamon Peduli (Danamon Cares Foundation), which conducts corporate social responsibility programs, with a focus on revitalizing traditional markets, and promotes sustainable development based on community-driven activities and volunteerism.
