Bank BGK is one of Poland's largest universal commercial banks. It specializes in financing agriculture, food economy and regional infrastructure. Its origins can be traced back to the state owned Polish Agricultural Bank, created in 1919. The state kept a majority stake (69%) in the bank until 2004, when the Rabobank and the EBRD acquired large amount of the shares. It went public on the Warsaw Stock Exchange in 2011. By 2012 the Rabobank owned 98% of the shares and in 2013 it sold the BGZ to BNP Paribas.
